Falling Large Diameter Trees & Backleaners
1-day Module
This one day course has been designed for anyone who has previously taken the one day Chainsaw Safety & Cutting Techniques program with Arboriculture Canada. We have had many alumni of the one day Chainsaw Safety & Cutting Techniques course tell us that they would like to take the additional training necessary to have equivalency with the 2 day Technical Tree Falling & Cutting course. This program will meet this need.

This one day program will teach participants how to use the bore cut back cut technique for falling large diameter trees (6 36 dbh). In addition, there will be a focus on setting up mechanical advantage systems for dealing with the falling of back leaning trees. As in all programs, there will be a strong focus on personal safety, risk assessment and accident prevention.

Eligibility Recommendations: Completion of the one day Chainsaw Safety & Cutting Techniques Arboriculture Canada Program. We will allow individuals without this pre-requisite to take the course, however, we caution you that our instructors cannot review information from this pre-requisite course as there will not be time in this one day program. If there are attendees that have not taken the Chainsaw Safety & Cutting Techniques course, the instructors will assume that you have the knowledge and experience in basic chainsaw operations, cutting techniques and understand the reactive forces of a chainsaw, bucking and limbing techniques and how the notch and hinge work as well as all other material covered in this one day program.
