About Me
Jack Phillips is a Registered Consulting Arborist, curator of the Downtown Arboretum in Omaha, and teaches tree biology, planting, and preservation courses and consults on projects throughout North America. After a career as a humanities professor, he studied with the late Alex Shigo, with whom he published The Nature of Tree Care, a short introduction to a natural systems approach to arboriculture. He is a frequent contributor to Tree Care Industry Magazine. His writing, teaching and consultation promote natural, noninvasive, and sustainable approaches to living with and caring for trees. Jack Phillips lives in the eastern Nebraska woods with his wife and sons.
