Celebrating 25 Years!

Do you believe that celebrating success is important?

We are pleased to share our 25th-anniversary coin, we wanted to create something to mark our success and establish a durable symbol. We challenge you to take it out of the packaging, hold it, and feel its significant weight and textures. Give it a spin on a smooth, solid surface and observe its variable rhythmic movements until it stops. The following explains about the coin’s design.

One side of the coin boldly displays the company name and logo. The artistic rope textured edge of the coin symbolizes the strong and reliable ropes we use when climbing and rigging. This rope border is also symbolic of strength, resiliency and reminiscent of our historic partnership with Samson ropes.

The other side of the coin displays the ‘Teacher Creature’ at its heart. The idea for the ‘Teacher Creature’ stemmed from a compartmentalized tree stump I photographed years ago at Royal Roads University. It inspired a parallel thought between the trees’ interconnectedness and our relationships as trainers, students, and individuals.

The ‘Teacher Creature’ displays the ACTE logo, has a conk as one eye, woundwood around a branch collar as the other, and a cavity forms a mouth. The chainsaw chains beneath the roots represent our primary course delivery and pays homage to our past alliance with Husqvarna and current collaboration with Stihl—partnerships pivotal to our financial stability and educational success.

Connecting the ‘Teacher Creature’ with ‘Train-the-Trainer Intensive’, we added a raised hand. Our teaching emphasizes asking and answering questions. The hook symbol on the coin also connects to this theme and emphasizes how questions engage the mind. The hook also symbolizes our instructors’ ability to inspire, which has led to increased student loyalty and repeat customers. People do not care about your knowledge until they know you care. We fish for the truth and catch the attention of those willing to learn.

The diamond symbol on the coin commemorates our first consultant. Not only did this outstanding individual support our organization but also empowered instructors to create positive change in their own businesses and careers. The book “Gophers and Cheetahs,” by Neil Theissen, features the diamond solution as its major subject. In our ‘Train-the-Trainer’ courses, we use this communication model because it offers a simple, yet powerful, way to visualize conversations. We endeavor to this day to incorporate its principles into our activities. Remembering that it takes planning to achieve clarity.

The Latin phrase INHUMERIS GIGANTUM STAMUS inspires contemplation. We benefit from the achievements of those who came before us, both literally and figuratively. This inscription on the coin honours the knowledge of those who came before us, illuminating our path like a candle in the dark. Our work in the trees places us on the shoulders of giants, supported by their branches and reminding us of our connection to lessons learned from these wise teachers.

I wonder what comes to your mind as you read this and ponder the design as I have explained. We would love to hear your thoughts and feelings about the coin and how interestingly long it spins for, before coming to rest, please do give it a spin!

Sincerely,

Dwayne Neustaeter Sr.,

Senior Vice President of Arboriculture Canada Training and Education Ltd.
